General Information:
The Beaufort Cycling Classic is bringing the intensely
popular sport of professional bicycle racing to the
streets of Beaufort. On the evening of May 1, 2007, the
core commercial district downtown will be transformed
into a 0.6 mile race course and healthy living festival,
providing excellent marketing opportunities for businesses
and brands.
The Beaufort Cycling Classic consists of three races-
Kid’s race, Women’s race and the Men’s race. The Kid’s
race will be promoted in the local schools and will emphasize
bicycle safety and the benefi ts of regular exercise.
All participants in the Kid’s race will be awarded
prizes. The professionals will follow with the Women’s
race (50 laps) and the Men’s race (75 laps). Beaufort
will be hosting all 15 United States based Professional
Teams and they will be competing for a total purse of
$15,000. This will make for a very exciting event!

Beaufort, the second oldest city in South
Carolina, and this year will be the host to
the fi rst Beaufort Memorial Cycling Classic.
Through partnership with our sponsors,
downtown Beaufort will host a weeknight of
good family entertainment with a festive
emphasis on health awareness. Good food,
good fun and fast bicycle racing. The Beaufort
Memorial Cycling Classic will include a
kid’s rodeo and bike race, a women’s pro race
and a men’s pro race.
Beaufort is located 75 miles south of
Charleston, S.C., 55 miles north of Savannah,
Ga., and only 40 miles from Hilton
Head Island, S.C. The community is surrounded
by majestic coastal marshland and
is located minutes away from 30 miles of
clean beaches.
