The Steadman Hawkins Cycling Classic is a major componentof the Bike Town initiative, a three-year campaign
funded by the Mary Black Foundation to earn Spartanburg the national designation as a Bicycle-Friendly
Community. That effort is now spearheaded by Partners for Active Living (PAL), a nonprofit, 501c3 organization
dedicated to promoting active lifestyles in Spartanburg County.
